Studying for Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer

I really have been off and on with studying for my MCSD. Well, I purchased some study material and I am off to the races. What I am finding is... it is a lot easier material than I thought. The gaps I find are not nearly as far fetched as others have told me...of course, I have not taken a test yet either. All of the documentation and study guides in the world may be off from the content in the test itself. Overall though, I may be able to blow this battery of test out in a few months. *Fingers Crossed*

One of the biggest helps was a consolidated lists for each test from Matt Menezes.

Since I started working for the client I am on, I don't have the luxury of publishing all of the development tips and tricks I learned out here on my blog. I really miss that. It is one way that I can retain certain aspects of business process, development, and training. Additionally, the client doesn't use all of the SharePoint features so that makes the study gaps a bit more obvious.

My biggest concern with being with a client so long is just that though. I would only be directly exposed to the features they use and miss out on a full understanding (business interaction and technical) of SharePoint as a platform. Certain add-on applications such as Project Server is an area I would like to experience.

But my biggest issue is I like it here. I like the friends we have made. I like the people I work with (extremely intelligent and fun). The work environment is not congested. I have a steady flow of challenges... and the people seem to respect each other. So... MCSD to try to continue professional growth. It won't do a whole lot of good at the client... but it will make me more professionally credible for the client.

I still worry that staying with this client for another 1, 2 or 3 years is going to cause a negative impact on my professional growth. Additionally, I am concerned that in another year, because we have stayed here so long already, that we will be unable to swim out of this quicksand. Well, I guess only time will tell.
